Facilities & Places in manchester

To reduce social contact, the Government has announced a phased re-opening of business and venues.

UPDATE: As of 19 July, England has undergone Phase 4 of the lockdown roadmap, meaning most COVID restrictions will be lifted as we move to step 4 of the roadmap. This means that there are no set restrictions on how many people can take part in sport and physical activity, indoors and outdoors. And all leisure centres and sport facilities will remain open to the public in a COVID-safe environment but with no capacity limits. With this in mind, our primary focus will always be the health and wellbeing of our residents, and we ask that you continue to do your bit to ensure a healthy and safer environment within our facilities and open spaces. Please continue to be cautious; meet outdoors as much as you can, wear your masks in busy environments and clean your hands or shared equipment regularly.

Measures to control the virus are likely to be in place for some time and we'll monitor and update guidance to ensure it's in line with the government and refresh the details on this page if they announce changes to facilities and open spaces across Manchester.

We urge you to remember that the pandemic is not over. Cases are increasing rapidly and a third wave is underway. Step 4 does not mark the end of the need for caution and restraint. At step 4, while many of the legal restrictions that the Government has imposed through the pandemic will be lifted, cautious guidance will remain, making it clear this is not yet a return to normal. While cases are high and rising, everybody needs to continue to act carefully and remain cautious. We will continue to manage the virus and provide guidance over the coming months.

FROM 19 JULY

Both outdoor and indoor activity is now open. Outdoor sports courts, outdoor gyms, golf courses, outdoor swimming pools, archery/driving/shooting ranges and riding arenas are now open. Organised outdoor sport for disabled people is also allowed to continue.

Indoor faciities within leisure centres, gyms and pools are now open.

Following the government's announcement on the ease of restrictions in England from 19th July 2021, customers can expect the following at their leisure centre:

- Safety measures such as face coverings and social distancing will be optional as part of the easing of lockdown restrictions in England. Please follow the guidance of your local area as face coverings may be highly encouraged in particular locations.
- Lockers, changing rooms, toilets and showers will be open and in use for all customers.
- Capacity levels on activities will increase
- Cafés, communal and spectator spaces will re-open.
