Sunny Brow Park opened in 1905, named after Sunny Brow Farm, which had originally stood on the site. The park is part of the Gore Brook Valley Conservation Area, which was designated by Manchester City Council in 1993, with Gore Brook (a fast-flowing stream) running through it’s centre. The park is overlooked by 2-5 bedroom Edwardian and Victorian houses and St Phillips Church, with Grade Listed Gorton Hall Lodge, Far Lane cottages and Brookfield to the east. The topography of the park involves the brook running through the base of a steep-sided valley, the park is largely made up of trees mostly sited at the edges of the brook. Sunny Brow Park is run by Manchester City Council and is open from dawn to dusk. The park includes a children’s play area and multi-use sports area (with basketball hoops), and has several benches and bins throughout. An added bonus: Friendly neighbourhood cats pass through the park. The park is a 4 min walk from Mottram bus stop via the 201, 203, 205 & 206 bus. For more information on transport, the excellent Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) website contains route planners, to find your way from anywhere in Manchester, as well as downloadable timetables.
