As we remain in lockdown in Manchester, we are committed to supporting you to be active, wherever and whenever that may be. To keep you abreast of all that’s happening across sport and physical activity in Manchester, we encourage you to explore the vast resources below to help you stay healthy and active at home, no matter your ability.

Here Mancunians can access various activities, incuding over 40 free live-streamed classes, that parents, children, young adults and families can take part in and feel inspired through...in your own home, garden or nearest outdoor green space.

Now, more than ever, is the time for us to be proactive around our levels of physical activity and do what we can to move more each day whilst our city is in lockdown. From zumba to full body workouts, we have plenty of free online fitness recourses to help get fit and have some fun from your own home.

At Home Workouts

Nike Training Club - Nearly 200 free workouts across strength, endurance, yoga and mobility. Sessions range from 15-45 minutes and are designed to help you see and feel results.
 
POPSUGAR Fitness - More than 500 workouts from celebrity trainers and fitness experts covering disciplines including boxing, dance, pilates and HIIT.
 
The Body Coach - The home of Joe Wicks’ workouts with hundreds available for all fitness levels. These fun workouts can be done at home with no equipment.
 
Our Parks - At-home workouts to do at any time of the day that includes a beginner's nine-week online programme of exercise classes. Each video class is hosted by three different coaches, all working at different energy levels, so it's suitable for all ability levels.

Local Instructor Workout Videos - A range of short workout videos for any age and ability delivered by MCRactive local instructors. 

NHS Better Health Workout Videos - Home workout videos, which include a strengthening workout and a 10-minute cardio workout.


Zumba
Zumba With Greg - Get fit and have fun, join Zumba with Greg.

Manchester’s trusted local gyms have opened up free access to over 40 weekly live streamed classes as part of a local online community for both members and non-members to join.
Take part in some of the popular classes this week:

Here you will find a range of on demand fitness classes, workouts and online exercises from your local trusted leisure centres across Manchester, to help you keep your body and mind healthy, even when you can’t get to your gym, pool or court.
 
BETTER AT HOME
 
Offers a wide range of online exercises suitable for all ages and abilities that can be accessed via the Better UK app.
 
On demand access to workouts are available for free on the Better UK app, available from the Apple or Google Play stores. 

Once you’ve opened the app on your device:
1. Select your preferred 'club' name
2. Tap Virtual fitness classes 
3. Tap the SIGN UP button in the top right corner
4. Enter your first name, last name, email and create a password
5. Enter BETTERATHOME as the Club Access Code
6. View and accept the terms and conditions
7. Tap the SIGN UP button
If you have a personal computer, laptop or casting device for your TV, you can enjoy the virtual classes on a bigger screen. Click the 'Use desktop version' button below and log in or follow steps 3-7 above if you're signing in for the first time.
 
 
Home Exercise
 
Try out some easy and gentle exercises that  can be done indoors without the need for any gym equipment. From Seated Yoga to Low Impact Cardio, you'll benefit from guided postures and breathing exercises to help you get stronger, feel grounded and be more balanced. Once you’ve logged into the virtual classes, tap the magnifying glass in the top right corner and search for classes under the senior category.
 
Virtual Classes
 
The virtual classes feature allows you to access a free library of 600 online fitness classes. Classes range from 15-60 minutes in length and include exercises and workouts run by the world’s top instructors, across a range of categories, including strength and conditioning, weight loss and mind-body.
